During this time, more families moved to the suburbs and lived in tract homes, which were neighborhoods that had 50-200 of the exact same homes. The "White Flight Time" described the movement of the whites from cities to suburbs while the minorities stayed in the city. Many moved to the lower part of the US, called the Sunbelt, because there were more jobs, better climate, and lower taxes. New industires appeared in technology and aerospace. Women gained status, money, and new jobs, but there were conflicts between the working women and the housewife. There was a huge population growth because of the baby boomers. More money was spent on research and development as well.
